Full extent of council cuts revealed, Prince Harry on his way, snow, Valentines messages and free fuel

IN this week's Newbury Weekly News the full scale of West Berkshire Councils cuts, and its plan to spend millions on new project while axing jobs has been revealed. Find out what the cuts mean for you.

Snow hit the district, and, as everywhere else it lands in the UK, caused havoc as schools closed and sports fixtures were hit. We have a round-up and lots of pictures as the white stuff coated towns and villages.

The cracks and subsidence which begun in the summer of 2010 and have plagued Newbury since have contributed towards an £18,000 legal bill which is still growing, and following last week's story about hopes of a speed reduction on the A34 near East Ilsley the Highways Agency has responded.

Pick up a copy of this week's edition to find out more on both of these stories.

Elsewhere tributes have been paid following the death of a young tree surgeon from Upper Bucklebury, the Newbury BID has been launched, and young people have spoken out against changed to rail cards.

All the usual arts and features give you plenty to do on Valentines Day, and you can win £500, a day in a recording studio, and free fuel.

The Newbury Weekly News is on sale every Thursday.
