Inattention led to crash - court

Martin Colin Rose pulled straight out or Derwent Road onto Lower Way, Thatcham, into the path of an oncoming car, the court was told.
Helen Waite, prosecuting, said the aggrieved, identified only as Miss Hamilton, was driving a Peugot when Mr Rose, of Ennerdale Way, smashed into it.
She added: “He collided with the front nearside of her vehicle and she sustained a minor injury. He later said she had been indicating to turn left but another motorist behind her disputed this.”
Mr Rose admitted driving without due care and attention on September 27 last year.
The 26-year-old, who was not represented, said: “Everything the prosecution said is correct. I thought she was indicating but obviously she wasn’t.”
Magistrates fined him £175 and ordered him to pay £85 costs with £20 statutory surcharge.
In addition, Mr Rose’s licence was endorsed with five penalty points.
