Parsons Down Partnership sees junior and infants schools joined
Infants and junior school pupils at a West Berkshire school are now on one site, after a £1.5m refit.
The project, to bring the Parsons Down Partnership in Thathcam (an infant and junior school) together on one site, is complete.
The refurb includes a spruced-up library, kitchen, new classrooms and medical space in addition to an early years external learning space and a new all-weather sports pitch.
“Bringing the schools together has enabled not only quality accommodation and a better use of space, but has given us the opportunity to increase the outdoor space significantly and install a fabulous all-weather surface multi-use games area," said Dominic Boeck (Con, Aldermaston), West Berkshire’s executive member for education, children and young people.
“Both schools now have cost efficient, modern learning environments that will bring great benefits to current and future pupil generations.”
Parsons Down Partnerships headteacher Catherine Bull said: "We’re delighted with the new outdoor and learning spaces the building project has provided.
"It enables all pupils to learn in an environment which encourages collaboration and access to fantastic resources both inside and out.
"Children in foundation stage have an impressive, new, bespoke indoor and outdoor learning space which inspires and challenges them and gives the very best start to their learning journey at Parsons Down.
"The library, which remains at the heart of the school, has been extended and remodelled to give everyone access to a wide range of inspiring books to suit all ages and inspire a love of books and reading.
"The all-weather pitch has transformed our sports provision and is a firm favourite. Pupils can enjoy a range of sports at lunchtimes and during PE lessons in a safe and purpose built-area that can be used whatever the weather.”
