Injury prevention scheme aims to increase child safety

The primary care trust has organised a workshop “Preventing accidental injuries in children and young people in Berkshire West” to agree a new injury prevention scheme with all local organisations and agencies.
Things like making sure your hot drink is safely out of reach of children, practising with children how to cross the road safely, or fitting and checking smoke alarms can all improve safety.
Director of public health at NHS Berkshire West, Janet Maxwell, said: “Many accidents that kill, injure or disable children are preventable.
“Child Safety Week gives us the opportunity to put accident prevention at the top of everyone’s list.
“It’s definitely not about wrapping children in cotton wool.
“We want families to understand the real risks to children and gain practical safety skills.”
