Inquests open into A34 East Ilsley fatal collision

Deaths of mother and three children under investigation

AN investigation into the deaths of a mother and three children who died in a collision on the A34 near East Ilsley has been opened.

Inquests into the deaths of 45-year-old Tracey Louise Houghton, her two sons Ethan and Joshua Houghton, aged 13 and 11, and her partner’s daughter Aimee Joan Goldsmith, aged 13, were opened last Monday.

All four were killed when the car they were travelling in was involved in an eight-vehicle crash on the busy dual carriageway at East Ilsley on Wednesday, August 10.

A date has yet to be set for the coroner to resume and conclude the inquests, however, owing to ongoing criminal proceedings.

Following the collision, a 30-year-old man from Andover was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed until October 5.

The fatal crash prompted strong calls for improved safety measures along the Chieveley to Chilton section of the road, which has now claimed a total of six lives in as many months.
