Interakt Community brings the 60s back to Thatcham
Charity catwalk turns back the clock
THE Sixties were back in fashion at the weekend with a charity evening of music, dance, art, fashion and food.
The Interakt Community Swinging 60s event was held on Saturday night at Thatcham’s Ace Space community centre with participants creating and modelling their own fashions down the catwalk.
Although the amount raised by the charity is yet to be counted, money for the Interakt charity goes to the continued work of developing opportunities and projects for people with disabilities.
Managing director of Interakt Community, Tsippy McAuliffe, said of the night: “There were many highlights for us all, some were the sharing of tears with participants who never thought they would ever have the courage to model on the catwalk, another wheeled herself down the catwalk while shining like a beautiful sparking red star – her favourite colour.
“The organisers and volunteers worked many, many hours on this event and all have said that every minute was worth it for watching the pure joy and confidence pouring out of every participant that evening.”
