International success for All Angels Vineyard in Enborne

A Newbury vineyard has enjoyed recent double international triumph, writes Eva Fielden.

All Angels Vineyard, in Enborne, saw success after being awarded a 96 point Gold Medal at The International Wine & Spirits Competition 2025 for its 10 Year Anniversary Classic Cuvée.

It was the second highest mark worldwide and they only narrowly missed out on the top spot - by just one point.

Owner Mark Darley said: “We are delighted to have received this recognition in one of the most important competitions in the wine industry.

“Our approach is always to focus on quality and to take our time.

“The winning All Angels has been aged for nine years on secondary fermentation – that’s three to four times longer than most producers.

“It makes for a far superior wine with lots of flavours both of fresh orchard fruit and warm crumble.”

Following on from this success, All Angels last week secured a major order from Norway, having been approached by a restaurant and wine specialist there.

“Scandinavia is a major export market for English Sparkling Wine and although we have exported to the Bahamas in quantity before, this is not something we typically pursue,” added Mr Darley.

“However, we are delighted to meet this request which was for both our 96 point Classic Cuvée and our very recently released Classic Cuvée 2016, also a medal winner at this year’s WineGB Awards.”

The vineyard said that English sparkling wine has become one of the country’s recent agricultural success stories - something that has previously been dismissed which is now deemed to be among the most exciting wines worldwide.
