Investigation continues into suspected arson

A blaze at Dolmans in Shaw Hill destroyed half of the ground and first floors

POLICE investigations into a suspected arson have continued this week, following a house fire at Shaw Hill last Wednesday (Aug 10).

Some 34 firefighters fought the blaze at Dolmans for over three hours, although it had destroyed half of the ground and first floors, according to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The property was believed to have been empty and no-one was hurt.

Thames Valley Police spokesperson, Lucy Billen, confirmed yesterday (Wednesday) that no arrests had yet been made in connection with the incident.

The building had been the subject of a number of planning applications, including two by Charles Smith Homes, of Aldermaston, which were both refused last year. A subsequent appeal in December was later dismissed by an inspector.
