IT disruption at hospital call centre
People were unable to make appointments at the Royal Berkshire Hospital yesterday (Thursday) due to the glitch
PATIENTS at the Royal Berkshire Hospital were unable to make appointments yesterday (Thursday) as the Reading hospital's call centre was hit by a technology glitch.
Disruption was caused when problems with the IT system were identified and engineers spent the day trying to fix the issues.
Hospital spokeswoman Vicki Sperrey said: “The majority of patients were seen and treated as normal yesterday, and the Trust will continue to run services today.
“We apologise to those patients who were inconvenienced by the issues and we will work to reschedule appointments as quickly as possible.
“We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and our priority is to make sure that we continue to deliver safe, high quality care.
“We will provide a further update as soon as more information becomes available.”
