Newbury mayor's coffee morning boosts NWN Over 80's Parcel Fund coffers ahead of Christmas
As a previous recipient of an NWN Over 80s’ Christmas parcel said: “It is acts of kindness like this that lifts one’s spirits. It is not all doom and gloom out there.”
And in a bid to lift more spirits this year it is all happening here at Parcel Towers, with fundraising still in full swing and the food being ordered in the thousands by Sainsbury’s this week.
The coffee morning very kindly held by the mayor of Newbury, Gary Norman, in the Town Hall on Saturday raised an amazing £404 for the Parcel Fund this year.
Thanks go to civic manager Eliza Mullen for making it happen, plus all the other councillors who were there to help and, of course, Newbury’s town crier Brian Sylvester, who certainly helps to bring in the crowds.
The famous Sports Quiz took place on Thursday, November 17, at The Bowlers Arms and was a great success – as always.
Please let us know if you would like to remove a name of someone who no longer requires a parcel.
