It’s carnival time in Lambourn!

PIRATES, cartoon characters, vintage tractors… Lambourn Carnival was a riot of noise and colour on Sunday, August 24.

Villagers lined the streets to watch the parade, which followed judging in the sports club field off Bockhampton Road.

Organising committee spokeswoman Kiri Fowler said afterwards: “A big ‘well done and thank you’ to all of the entrants – a great effort was made by all.

“We’d like to thank all of the volunteers on the day including the road closure marshals, our judges, registration desk volunteers, prize announcement volunteer and Lambourn Sports Club for the use of their field.”

She added: “Thanks, also to our carnival sponsors: Noll Countryside Services, TWL Plumbing and Heating Ltd, Ady Godwin, Nicky Henderson, CAE Logistics Ltd and Lambourn Garage which help with getting the band, rosettes and fireworks for November and so forth.”

Meanwhile the carnival committee is seeking fresh faces to volunteer for 2026 and to keep this colourful village tradition alive.

If you would like to get involved, send an email to Lambournfestival@yahoo.com

Alternatively, you are welcome to attend a committee meeting at 7.30pm in The Wheelwrights Arms on Thursday, September 25.
