It's a double whammy for The Harrow
Chef proprietor Roger Jones has been made up from long serving member to vice chairman of The Master Chefs of Great Britain - and John Brown has become the youngest ever member, aged 30.
The Master Chefs of Great Britain is the professional association for chefs working in the hospitality industry and aims to provide a forum for the exchange of culinary ideas as well as furthering the profession by offering training and guidance to young chefs.
Mr Jones said he was particularly delighted to see his long-term assistant and protege of 12 years made a full member.
Mr Jones’ work with The Master Chefs of Great Britain sees him training and hosting charity events all over the UK.
The pair are also involved with culinary colleges and schools over the south west.
Mr Brown joined The Harrow as a temporary pot wash in September 1999, and is now head chef, often deputising for the boss when he is away working on his favourite charity events, which raised more than £200,000 last year.
He is also involved in the training of young chefs coming through The Harrow’s system and visits schools with Mr Jones to spread the culinary word.
