Sport pays the price as fixtures fall to the conditions

SPORTS fixtures were hammered by the winter weather with little surviving the weekend chill.

The Evo Stik League Southern games between Thatcham and Mangotsfield at Waterside Park, and Hungerford's top of the table trip to Sholing were both postponed after 10am inspections.

The entire Hellenic League programme was called off by the league on Friday.

Newbury Blues' trip to Old Redcliffians was another Saturday morning victim, along with all games at Monks Lane and Thatcham's fixtures were also early casualties.

Local senior and minor football was also set to be decimated.

Reading's trip to Doncaster has also now been postponed.
