It's beginning to look a little like Christmas

Strings of lights are to go up over Northbrook Street on Sunday, to be tested for faulty bulbs once darkness falls on Monday night. The rest of the lights will follow in the coming weeks, however all will remain unused until the scheduled ‘big switch on’ on November 30.
Services officer for Newbury Town Council, Caroline Edmunds said: “To ensure that the lights look their best, we have made the decision to install the Northbrook Street crossings mid-October.
“This will allow sufficient time to rectify any faulty lights before the big switch on.”
This is the council’s final year organising Newbury’s Christmas lights before it hands the power over to the Newbury Business Improvement District Team.
