It's too early to party, so...
Douai's traditional
on Monday will be given by
under their conductor,
and the programme includes music by Benjamin Britten and Victoria and a new composition by
He is best know to the public for
performed at last year's Royal Wedding and for
sung by the Military Wives Choir, conducted by Gareth Malone which gained the Classical Single of the Year Award at the Classical Brits Ceremony in October this year. This new piece -
- has been commissioned by The Rodolfus Choir and we are delighted that Douai will be hosting the World Premiere of this major new work.
Music at Douai organiser Fr Oliver Holt is keen to round up new recruits: "Many of you will have attended our New Year's Eve concert before but perhaps some of you have not yet sampled it. The line that I usually trot out is that 3.30 in the afternoon of New Year's Eve is too early to go to a party and you've already seen "The Great Escape" on television 17 times!"
Tickets are available from the Corn Exchange on 08455 218218: £12 full price, £10 concessions and £5 for under-15s; you will also be able to buy tickets on the door.
Fr Oliver adds "It would be a great help is members of the audience who know each other could organise some car-sharing - the car park will be under some pressure and the only possible overflow carpark is literally 'overflowing' and waterlogged!"
