Jack reverts to Catherine as historic pub re-opens

Enterprise Inns spent more than £100,000 renovating the Grade II-listed pub, which is included in the Department of the Environment List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historical Interest.
The pub was known as the Catherine Wheel since 1761 until 2010 when it was renamed. It closed January 21 this year.
Newbury mayor Jo Day was among those in attendance to formally re-open the pub, and she got into the spirit of the occasion by getting behind the bar and serving drinks.
The Tudor-style building, with its crenelated parapet, has been identified by Enterprise Inns as one of its flagship properties.
New licensee Warwick Heskins is aiming to concentrate on offering real ales and pies to woo a new clientèle.
