Job seekers set to benefit from West Berkshire careers fair
The event, to be held at Newbury College is expected to be the biggest of its kind ever to be held in West Berkshire, and one of the organisers, Dawn Ray of DawnRayConsulting, said it would have a wide appeal.
She added: “This event is not just for school leavers and those on job seekers’ allowance, it is a perfect opportunity for local people of all backgrounds and skill sets to discover what employment opportunities currently exist amongst leading local employers.”
She said that a wide range of employers are expected to take part.
“The Work and Careers Fair will bring together businesses and organisations from a wide range of sectors who are actively recruiting. Many of whom are well-known brands and high street names, including new comers to the area, Harrods Distribution and John Lewis, alongside the more familiar names of Vodafone, Sainsbury’s and Tesco.”
She added that as well as job vacancies, the event would also introduce people to career paths that they may not have previously considered.
Newbury MP Richard Benyon also supports the event and said: “As someone who is passionate about finding new ways to engage local businesses with local employers, in order to get people back into work, I am very pleased to be lending my support to this important event for the local community. I look forward to speaking on the day and want to encourage local businesses to get involved if they can and local Newbury people to go along on the day and take full advantage of this opportunity which is free to all.”
The event will take place between 10am and 5pm. More details are available from www.thebestof.co.uk/newbury and www.newbury-college.ac.uk
