John Lennon bag fetches £4,750 at Newbury auction

A VINTAGE flight bag given to John Lennon on The Beatles first tour of America in 1964 was sold for £4,750 when it went under the hammer in Newbury today (Thursday).
The blue ‘Pan Am’ bag, which was given to Mr Lennon on The Beatles first tour of America in 1964, was auctioned by Special Auction Services (SAS) - where it was given an estimate of £5,000 - £8,000.
The vendor purchased the bag in 2000 from John Lennon’s uncle, Charlie, who provided a letter of provenance for the sale.
As part of the lot, an original piece of artwork from singer Bob Dylan, which was also signed by the star, sold for £10,000.
Mr Dylan was asked to design the album cover for a group called ‘The Band’ in 1968.
It had been expected to fetch £5,000 - £8,000.
