John Lewis appoints Parkway branch manager

The department store is due to open its newest branch at the 475,000 sq ft shopping complex in Newbury in the spring

NEWBURY man, Dominic Joyce, will become manger of the new John Lewis at home store in Parkway, it has been announced.

The department store is due to open its newest branch at the 475,000 sq ft shopping complex in Newbury in the spring.

Mr Joyce, who is currently manager of John Lewis at home department store in Swindon, will have responsibility for the 180 members of staff, including sales assistants, specialist advisers and catering professionals at the new branch in Newbury.

The 35-year-old, who will also oversee operations at the firm's branch in Swindon, described the opportunity as “exciting”.

“The Parkway is a great shopping centre with an extensive retail offer. I'm really looking forward to working with the other retailers, both on the Parkway and on Northbrook Street to make Newbury an even better and more exciting place to shop,” Mr Joyce, who has worked for John Lewis since he left school 17 years ago, said.

“John Lewis is a special place to work and I can't wait to introduce it to the new partners we're currently recruiting from the local area. Opening John Lewis at home Swindon was an amazing experience and opening an ‘at home' shop in my home town will be equally amazing I'm sure. I look forward to meeting people from the local area in the coming weeks and months and to welcoming many familiar faces.”

John Lewis at home Newbury will focus on furniture, furnishing accessories, homeware, home and electrical technology and will introduce a small assortment of travel goods, nursery and skincare.

The store will also include a cafe.
