JOHN SMART is the co-ordinator for Thatcham and the surrounding villages.
He said: “It has always been a great pleasure to help distribute all the Christmas parcels to the Over 80s in Thatcham and all its surrounding villages.
“My fellow Rotarians and all the other helpers from the British Legion, AWE, SSE and several local schools find that the Over 80s are very pleased to see them each year and really appreciate receiving the parcel of goodies in time for Christmas.
“ I am very grateful to all my helpers, who manage to deliver nearly 600 parcels over a weekend in December each year and I would like to thank the for making it all possible year after year.”
Michael Spence is the commercial manager of Swift Couriers, who are a major supporter of the Parcel Fund.
He said: “Swift are proud to support and are privileged to work closely with the in carrying out the logistics and ensuring that the food parcels arrive safely at the various distribution points.
“This is a fantastic, worthwhile cause where the Over 80s receive food parcels at Christmas.
“We can all take for granted at times that everyone is taken care off – sadly some of the elderly in West Berkshire don’t have family around them.
It’s all about looking after our local people and this really makes a difference, and Swift is very proud to be a part of it.”
Among the Trinity School pupils who helped deliver the parcels were Isabella Scott, Lena Allen, Harry Dore, George Walters and Georges Tonge.
Isabella said: “We really enjoyed meeting the Over 80s because they were so excited at receiving their food parcels.
“It was fantastic to see their happy, smiling faces.”
