AN arrest warrant has been issued for an alleged child sex offender.

Oliver Mace had been due to answer to the charge at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 13.

But the 26-year-old, of Dickens Walk, on The Nightingales estate in Greenham, did not turn up.

Specifically, Mace is accused of sexually assaulting a girl child in the Newbury postal region on a specific date last year.

District judge Samuel Goozee issued a warrant for his immediate arrest.

He said he was doing so because “the defendant did not attend court and provided no explanation for not doing so.”

In addition, stated Judge Goozee, he did so because he is “charged with an indictable offence” - a serious offence which could be sent to be dealt with by a judge sitting at a crown court - and because he already has an outstanding arrest warrant.
