Pinchington Lane in Newbury to shut for 9 weeks on Monday for gas main replacement works
A busy Newbury road will be shut for nine weeks from Monday (January 6).
Pinchington Lane will be shut from the roundabout with Capability Way to just before the roundabout at the top of Greenham Road.
The closure is in place to allow SGN to carry out essential gas main replacement works.
The closure is due to run until March 7.
SGN said it was upgrading and reinforcing the gas network along the road.
It added: “Our engineers will be working on Pinchington Lane, between Capability Way to outside Woodpecker Cottage (west of Greenham Road).
“Due to the location of the gas main and for everyone’s safety, it will be necessary to close the road between these junctions.
“This closure will mean no through vehicle access past the closure in either direction.”
The road closure will be in place 24 hours a day, but residential access will be permitted when possible.
Traffic will be diverted along the A339 and Greenham Road, a diversion route of around one mile.
