KATS’ Modern Time Music Hall was ‘pure escapism’
A KATS production with a modern twist has been described as “pure escapism”.
The concept for ‘Modern Time Music Hall’ began with director Janet Kilgallon-Brook mentioning the idea of an old-time music hall.
From there the team decided to take the music hall format but bring it up to date a little bit.
They did this by adding modern songs from the shows, sketches and dancing in order to try to attract a wider audience.
KATS said it had lovely feedback from audiences, who told it how much they enjoyed the variety in the show.
They also said they were impressed by the quality of the performances.
One audience member described it as a “musical TikTok” which the society said perfectly encapsulated the nature of the production.
One member Kevin Miller commented on how much fun the production was to be a part of.
He said: “The great testament to it is that everyone was talking about what they’d do next time only hours after the final show ended.”
Alison Brownfield called the show “pure escapism and a break from the day job”.
“Backstage banter should be prescribed by the NHS,” she added.
KATS said they are looking forward to beginning rehearsals for the next production of Fiddler on the Roof in February 2024.
