Kelly Joe Phelps tour off

Kelly Joe Phelps a leading light of real Americana music for almost 30 years, who was due to play Arlington Arts, Snelsmore, on Saturday, February 2, has called off the tour. Arlington director Tony Trigwell-Jones said: "We received word this morning that Kelly Joe Phelps has severely damaged the ulnar nerve in his right arm, rendering him unable to play guitar. For this reason his UK tour in February has been postponed."
Kelly’s UK booking agent Bob Paterson of BPA live said: “He is seeking medical help and he will be recuperating this next three months in the hope that he can tour again in the future. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but of course our thoughts and feelings are with Kelly Joe and hope he makes a speedy recovery so he can do what he loves doing best.
Arlington has been in talks regarding a replacement date and hope to have Kelly Joe return in September. However, this kind of injury is unpredictable and prognosis depends on the results of a variety tests that the US guitarist will be undergoing over the coming weeks.
With this in mind the venue is contacting everyone who has booked to arrange a full refund.
Kelly too is clearly frustrated: “There's been unfortunately no change whatsoever in this doggone hand of mine. Such a drag... so I'm going to need to stop playing for a few months and do a bit of physical therapy along with resting my hand and arm in the hopes that I can get around this thing without resorting to surgery. I'm terribly upset about the hand issue, but moreso about the fact that after all the time and work you've put into this tour I'm not going to be able to pull it off. I can't apologize enough, and I just feel awful about it.”
If you have booked tickets for Saturday 2 February and have not yet been contated, please call the box office on 01635 244246 to arrange a refund.
