Kennet Centre’s Boswells turns fifty

Balloons and bubbles were enjoyed at a café in Newbury earlier this month.

The Boswells Café in the Kennet Shopping centre celebrated its 50th anniversary on October 8.

All 18 branches hosted tea parties sharing sandwiches, cakes and fizz and reflected on the business' growth.

Boswells, which first opened as a small bakery in Didcot in 1972, was formerly called Livings.

It then rolled out branches in Reading and Swindon before coming to Newbury in 1986.

It later changed its name to 'Le Cafe, a Taste of France', in 1978, and eventually found its way to its current name, Boswells, in 1996.

The celebrations were to thank Boswells’ “loyal customers” for supporting the eatery and enabling it to be where it is today.

Company director Nick Burn has thanked everyone who turned up to celebrate.
