Kennet Leisure Centre invites you to a free community day
Families in Thatcham are invited to a free community day at Kennet Leisure Centre on Saturday, October 11.
The centre, which is run by Everyone Active in partnership with West Berkshire Council, will host the event from 9am to 2pm, offering a range of fitness activities for all ages and abilities to encourage the local community to get active.
Free activities on offer will include squash coaching, squash challenges, pickleball, boxercise, body pump, group cycling and yoga classes and junior gym sessions.
Children can enjoy a bouncy castle session from 9.30am to 10.15am, while families can make a splash at inflatable swim sessions which will run at 1.30pm to 2.25pm and 2.30pm to 3.25pm.
The inflatable pool sessions will be on offer for just £2 and funds raised will be donated to The Ben Kinsella Trust – one of Everyone Active’s charities of the year.
Free health checks will also be available on the day.
Richard May, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “We are thrilled to invite our local community to this energetic open day, which is set to be great fun and full of fantastic activities open to new and existing members.
“There will be plenty of opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to keep active, and if you’ve always wanted to try a new sport such as squash, this is the perfect opportunity to give it a go. We encourage anyone thinking of coming along to get involved and see what brilliant facilities we have to offer.”
Councillor Nigel Foot, West Berkshire’s executive member for leisure, sport and countryside, added, “We’re proud to support events like the Kennet Leisure Centre community open day, which bring people together and offer something for everyone.
“Ensuring that affordable and accessible activities are available within our communities is a key priority for us, and days like this demonstrate how fun and rewarding getting active can be. It’s a fantastic opportunity to connect, try something new, and support our collective wellbeing."
