Kennet School awarded for top exam results

Academy in top four per cent

KENNET School’s stellar exam results last year have seen the academy presented with two awards.

Last year’s GCSE results saw the Stoney Lane school maintain its 100 per cent pass rate and 70 per cent of pupils gained five or more A*-C grades, including English and mathematics, and 747 (26 per cent) of all grades were A* or As.

These results shot the school into the top 20 per cent in the country in terms of attainment and the top 10 per cent for progress.

In fact, the school’s actual result saw it placed in the top four per cent.

Kennet School received the two awards at a Schools, Students and Teachers Network ceremony earlier this month.

Delighted headmaster Paul Dick said: “I am so proud of Kennet School and the achievements of pupils and teachers, who work so hard together.

“To be at the top of attainment nationally is good but to be in the top four per cent, by progress from primary school to GCSE, is really outstanding and demonstrates the strength and depth in the school for pupils of all abilities. I am delighted about the past and confident about the future.”

Mr Dick added that the current Year 11 cohort was on target to equal or exceed last year’s high standard.
