Kennet School celebrates another successful year

Pupils academic achievements recognised

KENNET School celebrated another successful year of academic achievements at its annual presentation evening.

Pupils from last year’s Year 11 and Year 13 gathered in the hall with family and friends to celebrate the school’s GCSE and A- level results.

The Stoney Lane school had much to celebrate this year. It maintained its 100 per cent pass rate at GCSE level, with 70 per cent of pupils achieving five or more A* to C grades.

It also saw an overall pass rate of 99 per cent at A-level, with 81 per cent of grades between A* and C.

The headmaster, Paul Dick, said: “I am very proud of all your achievements, pupils, throughout last year, ranging from the outstanding work in the classroom through to the many successes on the stage through the medium of dance, drama or music and, of course, in the sporting fields.

“The school is the envy of many and it is entirely because of what you, the pupils, achieve and drive. Well done.”

And Mr Dick said he was very proud that Government data showed that Kennet pupils progressed further, whatever their ability, than they would compared with other schools in the country

The leader of West Berkshire Council and the guest of honour, Roger Croft, presented the certificates.

He said: “I am incredibly proud to have been invited to join in this great occasion of celebration.

“I am very proud of the achievements of this school and I congratulate you, one and all, pupils, staff and parents.

“You are the leaders of our community and our country in the future and I know you will do that brilliantly”.
