KFC confirms toddler picked up cannabis
Fast food franchise in Newbury offered mother vouchers for a 'deluxe' meal by way of apology
KENTUCKY Fried Chicken has finally confirmed that the substance found in a toddler's mouth in its Newbury restaurant was cannabis.
Newbury mother-of-two Stacy Rush took her 17-month-old daughter, Lily, into the Wharf Road, Newbury, franchise of Kentucky Fried Chicken on October 14.
While changing Lily in the toilet, Miss Rush noticed something in her daughter's mouth which she believed to be cannabis.
After nearly a month of investigations, Kentucky Fried Chicken has now confirmed that the substance was indeed cannabis and has issued an apology to Miss Rush.
The fast food chain has also sent 22-year-old two vouchers for a deluxe boneless eight piece meal, which Miss Rush has dismissed.
“I got an apology which is all I wanted,” she said. “If they had apologised at the time I would have been happy.
“I won't be using the vouchers. It was my first time at the restaurant and they haven't made a good first impression.”
A spokeswoman for Kentucky Fried Chicken said: “We have an excellent relationship with local police and we got in touch with them to ask for any additional guidance they could give us.
“They visited the store at our request, and told us that they were happy with our cleaning routine of half-hourly checks.”
