Kingsclere beauty venture looks good

Celebrations at award-winning Kingsclere hair salon as new beauty rooms open

CORKS were popping at a Kingsclere hairdressers recently (November 14), at the opening of a new venture.

About 100 people turned up for a party as Twist Hair, Swan

Street, opened four new beauty rooms upstairs at the

premises.

The award-wining business, has been run for the past 11 years by joint-proprietors, stylist John Castelli, aged 36, and his wife and colour technician, Lisa, aged 40.

Mr Castelli said: “We had champagne and a bit of a party,

with goodie bags, raffles and prizes – it was a really good do.”

Journalist Vicki Woods, of the neighbouring village of Ecchinswell, cut the ribbon to mark the opening and Kingsclere guitarist Jamie Lead-worth serenaded guests.

Mr Castelli said that it was “quite scary” launching a new

venture in the current economic climate, but that the initial signs of good trade were encouraging.

“It's taking off quite nicely. We are looking to recruit another two staff before Christmas,” he said.

The new rooms include two nail bars. Beauty salon manager,

Beverley Tidman, aged 39, of Newbury, said that providing

local employment opportunities was a positive move for the area.

“Beauty courses are popular at college – there are a lot of students leaving with beauty qualifications,” said Miss Tidman.

The business currently employs 30 staff.
