Kingsclere Diner ram raided by thieves
Nelson’s Diner on Newbury Road, a 50’s style American diner was raided by thieves in the early hours of this morning.
The thieves smashed a car into the back of the building using a vehicle before making off with cash and equipment.
Jess Firth, speaking on behalf of the diner said: “They smashed in the back door and got some kind of a chain to the safe and dragged it out the back”.
She said that the estimated £30,000 worth of damage included stolen laptops and computers and £5,000 in cash taken from the safe.
The diner took to social media to appeal for witnesses following the attack, writing: “Did anyone drive past at around midnight this morning (Tues 8th)? We are urging you to help us find information or sightings of a red car.”
“We can’t allow this kind of thing to happen, we are a small little family business, and this is just devastating.”
The diner will remain closed until Saturday July 12.
Police are at the scene and investigations are ongoing.
