Kingsclere prepares for fundraising festival to save community building at 24 Swan Street

Kingsclere is preparing to secure the future of one of the village’s most important community facilities at a family friendly live music and dance festival this weekend.

The Step Up For Swan Street Festival is taking on Saturday from 2pm until late at The Ring, which is located on top of White Hill, just south of Kingsclere.

The event, which has been organised by the Kingsclere Performing Arts and Youth Centre (PAYC), aims to raise enough money to purchase 24 Swan Street from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, lest it be sold for redevelopment.

The building at 24 Swan Street is the home of the accomplished JLD School of Dance as well several other local businesses.

Saturday’s festival will feature a headline performance from The Red Robin Ceilidh Band, a DJ set from Areola Grande Latte and a rock set from cover band Fortunate Ones.

There will be several other performances, including one from Kingsclere Performing Arts College.

Alongside the music there will be a wellness tent that will contain yoga and meditation sessions, and there will plenty of children’s activities and food and drink.
