Kintbury man had cannabis in car

In the dock on Thursday, August 28, was Charlie George Jewell, of The Haven, Inkpen Road.
Sarah Mackay, prosecuting, said police caused the 19-year-old’s car to stop in Church Street, Kintbury, and smelled cannabis.
She added: “They searched the vehicle and found a small amount of the drug, plus a cannabis grinder, in the central console.”
Mr Jewell admitted possessing the Class B controlled drug on August 9 this year.
The court heard the father of one had been caught with cannabis twice before, once receiving a formal caution and the second time receiving an £80 Fixed penaoty Notice.
Aisling Mulligan, defending, said: “It was just £5 worth. He smkes it very rarely and, in fact, had forgotten it was there.”
Magistrates made Mr Jewell subject to a six month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £85 costs plus a statutory victim surcharge of £15.
