Knitters unite at Corn Exchange event

.
The Corn Exchange is hosting Newbury’s 2014 World Wide Knit in Public Day, which was started in 2005 by American, Danielle Landes, with the aim of demonstrating knitting as a community activity.
It has become the largest knitter-run activity in the world.
The Corn Exchange’s Stitch & Chat group, will be led by local textile artist Mandi Bainbridge, who be on hand to give advice. Wool and needles will be provided. No experience is necessary and there will be free hot drinks from the venue’s Coffee House.
Alternatively take along any home knitting, crochet or textile projects to add to the ‘woolly creations’, which last year included a knitted chair , which was given pride of place in the Balcony Bar.
Knitted items created during the day will then be displayed as part of the Homegrown exhibition at New Greenham Arts, between Friday June 6, and Thursday July 17.
The event takes place between 10am and 2pm on Thursday June 12.
