Lambourn trained Many Clouds dies following Cheltenham win

Racing world in shock after Hennessy and Grand National winner collapses

The Lambourn-trained racehorse Many Clouds has collapsed and died after winning a race at Cheltenham today.

Many Clouds, trained by Oliver Sherwood, has won both the Grand National and Hennessy Gold Cup.

Sherwood has described him as a "horse of a lifetime".

Just after reaching the winning post, the 10-year old collapsed and died from a suspected heart attack.

It sent the stunned crowd into silence and left the Lambourn trainer emotional: “He's been the horse of a lifetime and I always said he would die for you and he's died for me and the team today doing what he does best."

More reaction to follow.
