Land Rover stolen in Tadley

Tadley man seeks help to find the distinctive vehicle which was stolen last week

A TADLEY man is seeking the help of locals to track down his Land Rover which was stolen from outside his house last Thursday evening (September 15).

Mark Hibbs, of Hythe Close, was in his house around last Thursday evening (September 15) when the vehicle was stolen. He believes the theft may have occurred at around 9.45pm as his dogs became restless at that time.

“I heard my dogs barking and they never bark at all, but I didn't get up to look. If I had, I would probably have caught them,” said Mr Hibbs, adding he had searched everywhere for the distinctive vehicle with black and white roof and chequer plate markings, but to no avail.

“It's worth between £3,500 and £4,000, but I won't get a replacement for that price, I've spent thousands of pounds on it,” he added, saying he was “lost” without use of the vehicle, which was locked and contained his passport and £1,000 worth of equipment used for shooting in his part-time job as a pest controller.

Mr Hibbs said the vehicle was in excellent condition after having just been refurbished and that there was a chequer plate dog box built in the back.

He said the police had been “brilliant” but were still searching for the vehicle which is a black, Land Rover Defender 110 double cab, registration number E158 YPP.

Anyone who heard or saw anything at the time the vehicle was taken, or has seen it since, should contact Basingstoke police, citing crime reference 4411 0394279, telephone 0845 0 454545.
