M4 lanes closed between J13 at Chievely and J14 at Hungerford for roadworks

Part of the M4 through West Berkshire will be down to just one lane this evening (Monday), writes Owen Jones.

The M4 eastbound will be closed between junction 13 at Chieveley and junction 14 at Hungerford, from 8pm to 6am tomorrow due to roadworks.

National Highways report that two of the three lanes will be closed, affecting eastbound access at junction 14 from the A338.

The planned closures will happen after National Highways announced today (Monday) that the motorway from junction 3 to 12 is now fully open following a major upgrade.

“This means that the whole scheme – from junction 3 to junction 12, a full 32 miles – is now fully open,” it said.

Mark Grant, National Highways delivery director, said: “It means motorists along this 32-mile stretch of the M4 will benefit from improved journey times, and we would like to thank drivers for their patience during construction.”
