Large donation from St James’s Charitable Foundation means Swings & Smiles can continue offering Play Leader service

A large donation has been made to a children’s charity in Thatcham.

St James’s Place Charitable Foundation donated £10,000 towards the costs of a Play Leader at Swings & Smiles (S&S).

The funding will go specifically toward Play Leaders who provide respite service.

For parents and carers of a child with complex disabilities, having an opportunity to have time for themselves is hugely valuable.

It also gives the child the opportunity to be independent and socialise away from their family.

The children’s charity said this is a major contribution toward Swings & Smiles being able to continue to offer this service to the people who need it most in the local community.

They offer a timetable of respite, family play sessions, youth clubs, sibling support and parental support.

They also deliver outreach sessions in the community to groups, schools and individuals across Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire.

Swings & Smiles said it is hugely grateful for the donation from the independent charity.
