Learn how to save money on food
Between 9am and 3pm on Saturday June 21, West Berkshire Council and Veolia will be handing out free recipe cards, portion measuring tools and a chef will also be cooking up family friendly recipes and handing out free tasters.
The working kitchen will be set up in the supermarket car park for the day and the team will be using products to show how much further your weekly shop can go.
West Berkshire Council’s Executive Councillor for the Environment, Dominic Boeck, said: “As a nation, we throw away seven million tonnes of food and drink each year, the majority of which could have been eaten. Families could save up to £60 a month by planning meals and using up leftover foods.”
General Manager for Veolia in West Berkshire, Mark Gray, said: “If you have food waste that can’t be used again, like tea bags, vegetable peelings and leftovers from the plate; remember, these can all easily be recycled in your green bin.”
