Newbury Royal British Legion open day celebrates major refurb and rebrand

The Newbury Royal British Legion invites the community to attend its open day later this month.

After years of funding, the club has completed works on a major refurbishment it started in September, costing up to £30,000.

And it has also rebranded as the Pelican Lane Social Club, but remains associated with the Royal British Legion and still requires people to register as Legion members to become members of the club.

Four areas of the clubhouse have been refurbished – including the Haig Hall and newly re-named Pelican Lounge – which anyone can book for various meetings or functions.

The club, now 200 members strong, wishes to raise awareness of the renovated space as a social hub amid the lingering impact of the pandemic.

The open day will commence from noon on Saturday, February 25.

The committee is keen to emphasise that membership is not restricted to current or ex-servicemen and women, but is open to everyone.

Anyone interested can find out more on the day.
