Kennet Leisure Centre reopens after major renovation
The new refurbished gym and exercise studios at Kennet Leisure Centre have opened today (Monday).
The upgraded gym has undergone complete redecoration, with a full suite of cardio and resistance equipment.
The centre’s exercise studio and indoor cycling room have also been modernised as part of the renovation project.
Richard May, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: “These improvements mark a significant leap forward for Kennet Leisure Centre.
“This is all part of our commitment to improve the health and well-being offering across West Berkshire, and we hope to see the local community take full advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities.”
The upgrades were funded by West Berkshire Council, who work in partnership with award-winning leisure operator Everyone Active to manage Kennet Leisure Centre.
West Berkshire’s executive member for Culture, Leisure, Sport and Countryside Nigel Foot said: “We’re working hard to make sure that local people have the very best leisure facilities.
“This project is part of our pledge to continuously improve our leisure centres, and I’m sure that people will enjoy the improvements we’ve made at Kennet Leisure Centre.”
As part of the investment, the facility’s squash courts are due to undergo a full revamp, which are expected to be completed in January 2025.
Kennet Leisure Centre’s refurbishment is part of a wider programme of upgrades within the district, which includes the construction of a new studio at Hungerford Leisure Centre and a multimillion-pound makeover at Northcroft Leisure Centre.
