Theale Lakeside to get 54 more flats

Approval has been given for 54 more flats in Theale.

West Berkshire Council ticked the scheme off which is part of a development of 325 homes at Lakeside.

The flats will replace the originally planned-for 70 care units.

Historically the site was used for gravel extraction but has since mostly been filled in.

But objections are growing to the scheme,

“I live locally in Theale, absolutely love the area and I am proud of the quiet village we know it as now,” said Joelle Way.

“Please just stop planning on building high risers and cramping in lots of new housing – Theale cannot cope with an influx of people (schools, public services and especially traffic!).

“Let’s not see Theale turn into Calcot.”
