Let them eat cake.....

Bizarre food show tonight is latest free town centre entertainment

A SURREAL, seasonal dinner party will be acted out in Newbury town centre this evening (Thursday).

At 5.30pm and 7pm this evening, you can take a break from the Christmas shopping and join Ursula Harrington Carrington Barrington Farrington Larrington for an hilarious, 20-minute crash course in how to behave at the table.

The Christmas Dinner Table is described as a subversive and fun show where all the guests learn a little something.

The latest free entertainment laid on by the Newbury Corn Exchange and Greenham Common Trust involves bags of audience participation, festive music, lots of foody mess, a splash of dancing and a dash of mistletoe thrown in.

The Christmas Dinner Table can be seen for two performances outside the front of the Corn Exchange in the Market Place. Directed by Petra Massey from acclaimed theatre company Spy Monkey, the show has received support from Arts Council England.

The programme of festive events organized by the Corn Exchange has seen plenty of weird and wonderful goings-on in the town centre over the past few weeks. Still to come are a visit from Bjorn the Polar Bear on December 23, Time for Tea on December 17 and the latest large-scale outdoor event for Newbury, the Lantern Procession, which takes place on Sunday, December 18.
