Started off by choir leader Chloe Payne, who leads the choirs in Newbury, Tadley, Speen and Hungerford, a large group wiped off their coats to reveal their Rock Choir jumpers and congregated outside M&S in Parkway to put on the impromptu performance.

Rock Choir member Melony Slack, who took part in the flash mob and whose husband captured the video above, said: “It was fun trying to stay clandestine beforehand!

“When I joined in, singing outside Next, whilst walking towards the performance area, I got some funny looks from the public walking the other way.

The Newbury flash mob was taking place at the same time as five other choirs in the area were also performing in their localities, including Reading, Windsor and Basingstoke.

And it was all in aid of Comic Relief, with many members wearing red on the day too.
