Library evacuated in fire alert

Staff await firefighters after alarm is triggered

A FIRE alert prompted the evacutation of Newbury library at lunchtime today (Tuesday).

Staff and customers had to leave the building when the alarm was triggered around 1.15pm.

After management confirmed that it was not a drill, firefighters were summoned.

The situation was ongoing at 1.30pm.
