Lifecyle Software raises funds for Berkshire Youth Waterside Centre
Lifecyle Software held a paddling challenge of over 11 miles to raise money for Berkshire Youth's Waterside Centre, writes Max Cater Keall.
Berkshire Youth, Lifecycle’s charity of the year, helps with the transition from childhood to young adulthood, supporting young people who are vulnerable, disadvantaged or unable to access help elsewhere.
The Newbury-based company held the event on Saturday October 15, to support Berkshire Youth and either paddleboarded or canoed from the Waterside Centre in Newbury to Kintbury and back again.
Employees, family and supporters all got together for the fundraising event to travel the distance of 11.5 miles, with 14 locks in between.
Kelvin Chaffer, COO of Lifecycle, said: “Family and friendship are the core values of Lifecycle Software, we want our company to be a place where people can grow their potential.
“We have seen how Berkshire Youth do a fantastic job of working with young people to facilitate their growth to help them reach their potential and beyond.
“The Lifecycle team, with the help of their friends and families, each covered more than 10 miles of the Kennet and Avon canal to raise money to support Berkshire Youth’s Waterside Centre.
“Our aim this year is to raise £2,000 so that BY can purchase some new Zorbs to help build confidence in the young people they support, whilst having fun.”
Lifecyle has been doing great charity work over the past year, with highlights including participating in the Harey 8 in June – a multi-terrain eight mile race around Hungerford and the surrounding countryside – and undertaking the London Marathon Challenge in October.
The team collectively achieved more than 200 miles in the challenge and reached over £900 in sponsorship.

The team at Berkshire Youth’s Waterside Centre have said "a big thank you" to the team at Lifecycle Software.
Youth and community manager Kelly Leach said: “We are so grateful to everyone at Lifecycle Software for their amazing support and unwaning enthusiasm.
"My young leaders loved being a part of the recent paddle challenge, enjoying putting their paddling skills to the test in order to help those who had less paddling experience.
"I would like to thank the Lifecycle team for their monumental efforts as well as raising much-needed funds, they are helping us raise awareness of our charity’s work and it’s great that they are also having lots of fun along the way."
