Light-up Christmas reindeer donated to children’s support centre in Newbury
A garden centre has brightened up Christmas for one children’s disability charity.
Thatcham Garden Centre has donated a light-up reindeer to Dingley's Promise, based in Newbury, as part of its Christmas Magic community campaign.
The campaign run by British Garden Centres asked residents to nominate a group, garden, charity or hospice deserving of the prize.
And Zoe Cox, who has volunteered for Dingley’s Promise since 2015, put the charity forward.
Explaining why, she said: “At Dingley’s Promise, we are passionate about giving every child with special educational needs and disabilities in their early years the best possible start in life.
“Sensory play is central to our approach to nurturing the development of children with SEND.
“A light-up reindeer in our outdoor play area would provide a magical sensory experience, bringing joy and happiness to the children we care for.”
Amy Stubbs, project and development manager at British Garden Centres, added: “We are incredibly proud of the active role British Garden Centres plays in its local communities, and that’s particularly important at this time of year.
“We are delighted to donate this light reindeer as a symbol of joy, Christmas magic and community spirit during the festive season.”
