Lions Club fighting to reduce measles deaths

Lions worldwide have been involved in a campaign to reach those children who have not been vaccinated through their One shot, One Life initiative.
Measles is one of the most contagious yet easily prevented diseases in the world. It is a leading cause of vaccine-preventable deaths among children.
The World Health Organization estimates 122,000 deaths a year still occur owing to measles. For less than £1, a child can be immunised against measles for life, making the vaccine potentially the most cost-effective health intervention available.
Since becoming involved in the fight against measles in 2010, Lions and their partners have helped to vaccinate more than 200 million children.
To continue this work, Lions have been challenged to raise £1m during April and have also received the offer of match funding for money received by April 30.
So it will be One shot, Two Lives for every £1 donated to this worthy cause. Newbury Lions Club members will be in Newbury town centre on Saturday with collecting boxes to receive your donations or you can go online and donate via http://mydonate.bt.com/events/
