Loddon Valley Lions Club members take part in litter pick around Tadley as part of World Earth Day
Members of Loddon Valley Lions Club did a litter pick around Tadley as part of World Earth Day.
The litter pick took place on Sunday, April 21, and the members were split into three groups that all covered different parts of the town.
One group travelled from the Calleva Park roundabout along the A340 to Lidl and collected eight bags which were mostly filled with bottles found in ditches which drivers had thrown out their windows.
Another group picked around the back and front of the shops on Bishopswood Road, Franklin Avenue and the lane that runs at the back too, and they collected 11 bags.
Club welfare chair Vanessa Tolson-Goddard said: “We found lots of vapes, dog poo bags, cans, bottles, cigarette packs, crisp packs, fast food containers and loads of other stuff.
“We had lots of nice comments from members of the public whilst out about our efforts and via our Facebook page too.
“We were out for about two hours and luckily the sun was shining. Those that took part felt good that they’d done their bit to clean up the area they live in.”
Tadley Town Council supplied the litter pickers with bags, picker sticks and gloves.
The council then collected all the bags that the groups filled with rubbish.
The Loddon Valley Lions Club’s big annual event, the Tadley Treacle Fair, is rapidly approaching and the club is asking for the public’s help to make it happen.
