Little Troopers put on patriotic charity display at Curridge Primary School

Primary school pupils have put on a patriotic display to raise money for a military children’s charity.

Pupils at Curridge Primary School recently came together to paint a Union Jack flag, which they displayed on the school grounds for friends and parents to cover with coins.

The display raised money for the charity Little Troopers, which supports children who have parents serving in the British Armed Forces.

More than 25 per cent of pupils are service children and the school regularly uses resources from the charity to support them, particularly when they have a parent serving away or deployed overseas.

The school’s ELSA and service children’s champion, Chloe Brock, said: “Supporting our service children is really important to us here at Curridge Primary School and we often use resources from Little Troopers to help with this.

“We run a Military Mates club every week for children to come and share their experiences of being a military child with their friends, and they are always excited to raise money for Little Troopers.

“The children have loved giving something back to the charity.”

Founder of Little Troopers, Louise Fetigan, added: “Thank you so much to all the students at Curridge School for your fundraising efforts.

“The flag looked amazing and was such a good idea.

“We can see how much hard work has gone into the display and we want you to know that every penny makes a huge difference to the work our charity does supporting other service children who are also growing up in the Armed Forces community and share similar life experiences to you.”

Little Troopers is a tri-service charity supporting service children who have a parent serving in our British Armed Forces.

An estimated 100,000 military children in the UK face unique challenges including frequent house and school moves, as well as regular periods of separation from their serving parent.

The charity provides resources for use at home and in school, as well as running special projects such as the Little Troopers All Together deployment club and Little Troopers Therapy Programme.
